When the heir to an empire and the daughter of an elected leader meet, little do they realise how both their lives are going to be changed forever. Products of a autocracy that rules using a currency of terror and war on one hand, and a democratic state that values knowledge on the other, the subsequent years after their meeting takes them further out of their worlds and further away from the core ideas of their cultures than they could ever have imagined. As they experience war, death, love, and disillusionment they are forced above all to examine the nature of the knowledge and supposed truths that they have inherited.
